How much will it all cost? ( Back to Menu )

Consider this:

"The materials we use, here at the Herbrandston Dental Health Practice are the very best. We regularly undergo extensive and continual training and peer review to ensure we can provide the best and latest in the field of dentistry. The equipment we use is the best and regularly updated. We work by exacting health and safety standards ensuring that wherever possible we use disposable products for single patient use. Where this is not possible we steralise everything. Our buildings are designed to the highest standard for patient comfort and for cross infection control. We employ dedicated and highly professional staff. We do not cut corners by using cheap or inexperienced dental technicians to make our crowns or dentures. We pay for the scientific advances in modern aesthetic dentistry to ensure that the final product is to everyone's satisfaction."

We, at the Herbrandston Dental Health Practice, have all worked in many practices. Some NHS funded, others privately. Over the years we have come to believe that the setting of arbitrary fee scales stifles creativity and individuality. If a white filling takes 10 minutes to place it should cost less than one taking three times as long. Conversely, a well crafted crown of beautiful aesthetics containing precious metals should cost more than the basic crown produced under the National Health Service fee scale. It may cost more but you are not comparing like with like. Here you will get value for money. So, private dentistry at this practice simply allows us to collect an appropriate fee for a job well done.

We take a high degree of professional pride in what we do and would rather not work on the principle: "quantity not quality". We are quality, we produce the highest standards of dental care and our fees necessarily reflect this fact without, we hope, being unreasonable.

Working out the cost ( Back to Menu )

When you visit us you will pay a standard fee for an initial consultation. Our Practice Manager will be happy to discuss this with you on the phone (or via e-mail) and, if acceptable, will send you an information pack or schedule you an appointment at a mutually acceptable time. At this appointment the dental surgeon will spend around 30 minutes with you, perhaps also taking X rays and photographs, to determine the best course of treatment for you. Please click onto our treatment page for more details.

At the end of this first consultation you will be presented an estimation of costs. This will be as accurate as possible but may have to be changed during a course of treatment should unforeseen additional work be encountered. Should this be the case, you would be informed and the treatment plan revised according to your wishes.

We are especially keen for you, the patient, to decide on how we should proceed with your treatment. So, we will discuss all your options. Some options may be the ideal, others more of a compromise depending on factors such as your general health, your oral health and your budget. At no point will you be forced into a treatment plan you are not entirely happy with nor will we advise unnecessary or overly expensive treatment options. We can advise on ways to make payments easier for you, after all, a great smile is an investment in itself and we may be able to arrange credit for you on your behalf. Let us discuss together: what is it you want and the best way for us to achieve it for you .

"We expect our work to Look Good, Feel Great and last a Long Time. Trust in us!".

Dental payment plans? ( Back to Menu )

Our practice no longer offers a dental plan . In this regard we are rather unique. We have deliberately steered away from Plan providers such as Denplan, DPAS or Practice Plan who take a monthly premium based on expected treatment need rather than actual treatment required. In this respect they work much as insurance companies do and they exist to make a profit. Our philosophy is, “if you do not need treatment why pay for it? ” Further, if you do need treatment why let a dental insurance company dictate what you can and cannot have? You, as the patient, in consultation with a dentist you trust should be the only factors in deciding what treatment options are best for you.

So, after listening to our patients we are entirely ‘pay as you go'. You only pay for the treatment actually carried out on the day it is done. You do not have to pay us to ‘stay on our list' and there are never any hidden charges.

We do ask for a fee should you not turn up for an appointment and fail to give us a full working day's notice but this is only to cover our overheads.
